As avid members of many of the impact communities listed above, and as community managers ourselves; we have a few tips for those of you who are new to engaging in an online community.

 

1.Don’t join too many communities at once!

When joining any community – the old adage ‘you get our what you put in’ comes to fruition. So our advice is to join and properly engage with the communities that best suit the support and connections you’re looking for.

2. Get in touch with the community organisers

If you want to really understand how to get the most out a community, get in touch with community organisers and ask questions!

3. Help others

Joining a community isn’t about taking – its about sharing, collaborating and growing together. Be sure to help others and they will help you!
